Lane, Ramp Closures, Detours for I-10 ‘Tune-Up’ Work in California Thru September 10 and Beyond

The California Department of Transportation reports the following traffic impacts for the “I-10 Tune-Up” pavement rehabilitation project, from Beaumont to SR-111. This work will be done thru September 10 and beyond.

DAYTIME WORK: Tuesday – Friday | 6:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.

NO PLANNED LANE CLOSURES, CREWS CONTINUE WORKING BEHIND K-RAIL.

  • Westbound and Eastbound I-10 crews continue demolition, excavation, and paving throughout the length of the project from Beaumont to SR-111.

NIGHTTIME WORK: Tuesday – Thursday | 7:00 p.m. – 6:00 a.m.

NIGHTTIME ALTERNATING LANE AND RAMP CLOSURES IN BOTH DIRECTIONS, EXPECT DELAYS, AND ALLOW ADDITIONAL TIME FOR TRAVEL.

  • Westbound and Eastbound I-10 from Main Street to SR-111 crews continue work on demolition, excavation, and traffic reconfiguration operations.
  • Westbound from Pennsylvania Avenue to 8th Street crews will work on paving operations.

FULL RAMP CLOSURES: Due to high winds and poor field conditions the anticipated ramp OPENINGS and CLOSURES may be DELAYED and will begin during nighttime work hours and reopen at the end of the night shift in the morning hours. Ramp closures are necessary for lane reconstruction.

Anticipated closure Wednesday, September 14, reopening Saturday, September 24

  • Westbound 22nd Street off-ramp
    • ALTERNATE ROUTE: please use Sunset Avenue, 8th Street, or Hargrave Street

Anticipated closure Tuesday, September 27, reopening Friday, October 7

  • WB 8th Street off-ramp
    • ALTERNATE ROUTE: please use Sunset Avenue or Hargrave Street

EASTBOUND AND WESTBOUND TEMPORARY TRAFFIC SWITCH

  • Eastbound and Westbound SPLIT LANE DIVERSION from Main Street to Haugen Lehmann Way (approx. 2.5 miles)
  • Lane # 3 IS CLOSED for roadwork
  • Main Street EXIT USE the RIGHT #4 LANE
  • Semi-trucks USE the RIGHT #4 LANE
  • Through traffic USE the OUTSIDE LANES
  • REDUCE SPEED and DRIVE WITH CAUTION in the area.

WESTBOUND TRAFFIC SWITCH

  • Westbound CROSSOVER LANE new traffic reconfiguration in place.
  • Please drive 60 MPH.
  • NO trucks towing trailers, RVs, or busses permitted.

SPECIAL EVENT: September 9-11 Banning Stagecoach Days

  • EVENT ACCESS: Please use 8th Street off-ramp for arrivals and use Sunset Avenue on-ramp for departures to avoid train traffic.

LONG-TERM RAMP CLOSURE

  • Anticipated opening mid-December 2022.
  • Westbound 22nd Street on-ramp remains closed for improvements; closure assists with freeway capacity.
  • DETOUR: please use Westbound 8th Street or WB Sunset Avenue on-ramps to access the Westbound I-10.

CONSTRUCTION ADVISORY

  • PLEASE DRIVE 60 MPH. REDUCE your SPEED throughout the project area, construction zone FINES apply.
  • A lane width reduction, a lane diversion, AND a crossover lane are in place to maintain freeway capacity.
  • All ramps: including sr-111 connector, and lanes in the project area are subject to brief intermittent closures.
  • All work is weather and field condition dependent.
