Motorists using Interstate 10 should budget extra time with overnight lane restrictions required next week (April 23-27) for a widening project in Casa Grande, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation.
Eastbound I-10 will be reduced to one lane between Earley Road and Interstate 8 (mileposts 196-200) from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. Monday, April 23, through the morning of Friday, April 27, while westbound I-10 will be reduced to one lane in that stretch from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. Tuesday, April 24, through the morning of Thursday, April 26.
A $36.6 million ADOT project is widening I-10 to three lanes in each direction from just south of Earley Road to I-8. The project, scheduled for completion by summer 2019, also will create new bridges over Jimmie Kerr Boulevard and add auxiliary lanes in both directions between I-8 and Jimmie Kerr Boulevard.
ADOT works to inform the public about planned highway restrictions, but there is a possibility that unscheduled closures or restrictions will occur. Weather can also affect a project schedule.
