The Mississippi Department of Transportation reports that as a railroad crossing replacement project reaches the final stages, ALL lanes of U.S. Highway 49 in both directions and Interstate 10 exit ramps for U.S. 49 southbound (Exit 34A) will close.
WHEN: ALL lanes will close starting at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 1 and will be closed for up to two days. Roads will be open as soon as Kansas City Southern completes the crossing replacement.
WHERE: U.S. Highway 49 in both directions at the railroad crossing between Interstate 10 and Creosote Road in Harrison County. I-10 exit ramps for U.S. 49 southbound (Exit 34A) will also be closed.
WHY: Railroad crossing repair.
HOW: Kansas City Southern will replace the railroad crossing. Detour signs are in place for local traffic. Other traffic can take State Route 605 to I-10 or State Route 67 back to U.S. 49 or vice versa. Roads will be open as soon as Kansas City Southern completes the crossing replacement.
Motorists are reminded to be on high alert for roadside workers.
