The Texas Department of Transportation reports that, as part of the current I-10 widening project from SH 73 to Hamshire Road in Chambers and Jefferson counties, the existing Brush Island Bridge, which crosses over I-10, will be replaced with a new overpass.
Weather permitting, demolition of the Brush Island Bridge structure will require nightly closures of I-10 the week of June 19, from 9:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m.
During the closures, I-10 mainlane traffic between SH 73 and FM 365 will be detoured onto FM 365, SH 124, and SH 73. Additional signage and police enforcement will be placed along the detour route to accommodate the traveling public and promote safety.
Please note: The I-10 frontage roads are not continuous in this area; thus, they are not a viable detour. The frontage roads will, however, remain open for local traffic.
The demolition requiring the closures is estimated to take four nights.
