Lane, Ramp Closures, Detours for California’s I-10 ‘Tune Up’ Project

Interstate 10 is a major east-west connector route transporting people and goods through California. The heavily travelled roadway is cracked and in disrepair. This project will restore structural integrity and ride quality in the project area, and minimize maintenance needs, therefore minimizing worker exposure. Below is work scheduled for October 10 -15, 2021.

Daytime Work: Monday– Friday from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.

NO PLANNED LANE CLOSURES

• WB and EB crews continue electrical work, roadway excavation and demolition, and shoulder paving operations from 8^th Street in Banning to SR-111.

Nighttime Work: Sunday – Thursday from 7 p.m. to 6:30 a.m. 

NIGHTTIME ALTERNATING LANE AND RAMP CLOSURES IN BOTH DIRECTIONS – Expect delays, ALLOW ADDITIONAL TIME FOR TRAVEL

• WB and EB crews will be performing grinding and paving operations throughout the entire project from Beaumont to SR-111.

TRAFFIC SWITCH: The EB crossover lane from just east of Beaumont Avenue to Hargrave Street in Banning is available for motorists. There are no exits in the crossover lane and no trucks towing trailers, RV’s or busses permitted. 

10 DAY RAMP CLOSURES: Due to high winds and poor field conditions the anticipated ramp OPENINGS and CLOSURES may be DELAYED and will begin during nighttime operations.

• Anticipated closure beginning the week of  October 10
• WB Morongo Trail on-ramp will be closed for improvements.
• ALTERNATE ROUTE: please use Malki Road or Main Street.
• Anticpated opening the week of October 21.

• Anticipated closure beginning the week of October 13  
• WB Ramsey Street off-ramp will be closed for improvements.
• ALTERNATE ROUTE: please use 8^th Street.
• Anticpated opening the week of October 25.

• Anticipated opening beginning the week of October 14  
• WB Malki Road off-ramp is closed for improvements.
• ALTERNATE ROUTE: please use Morongo Trail or Main Street.

LONG-TERM RAMP CLOSURES:

• Anticipated opening beginning the week of November 1   
• WB Haugen-Lehmann Way off-ramp remains closed due to material delays and weather conditions. 
• DETOUR: follow posted detour, continue on WB I-10, exit WB Main Street, continue on Main Street and re-enter EB I-10, exit EB Haugen-Lehmann Way.

• EB Sunset Avenue on-ramp remains closed for improvements and it assists with maintaining freeway capacity.
• DETOUR: please use EB 22^nd Street or EB 8^th Street to access the I-10.
• Anticipated opening beginning mid-March 2022.   

FUEL SPILL CLEAN-UP ONGOING RAMP CLOSURE: Clean-up work continues since the Sept. 1 incident. 

• EB Hargrave Street on-ramp remains closed.
• EB 8th Street and EB Ramsey Street on-ramps are subject to closures as needed for clean-up operations related to this incident.
• Please use alternate routes.

INTERMITTENT CONNECTOR RAMP CLOSURE: EB connector on-ramp to SR-111 may intermittently be closed for roadwork, please use Whitewater/Tipton Road or Indian Canyon Road to access SR-111.

CONSTRUCTION ADVISORY:

• REDUCE YOUR SPEED throughout the project area.
• LANES ARE REDUCED IN WIDTH TO MAINTAIN FREEWAY CAPACITY.
• ALL RAMPS AND LANES in the project area are subject to BRIEF INTERMITTENT CLOSURES, for staging and other construction improvements.
• ALL WORK is WEATHER and field condition DEPENDENT. 
• Dates and times are SUBJECT TO CHANGE.
