The Mississippi Department of Transportation (MDOT) has announced updates to several I-10 projects in south Mississippi.

Major I-10 widening project makes progress in Harrison and Hancock counties

A major project to widen I-10 from four to six lanes from Diamondhead to County Farm Rd. in Harrison and Hancock counties continues to progress. The scope of work also includes technological upgrades and the construction of a multi-use path and a noise barrier wall near the Diamondhead exit.

Widening operations are ongoing on the westbound side as crews work in the median to construct the new lane. Near the Diamondhead exit, westbound traffic has been shifted to the newly constructed inside lanes to allow for construction to begin on the noise barrier wall. Bridge widening work continues on the inside lanes of the three bridges along the route.

This $155 million project is expected to be completed in 2027.

Diamondhead I-10 interchange reconstruction project makes progress in Hancock County

Work is progressing on a $17 million project to reconstruct the I-10 Diamondhead interchange (Exit 16), which involves overpass and ramp widening, the construction of three roundabouts and the addition of a multi-use path. Two of the four ramps have been widened, and the I-10 W exit ramp is currently closed to traffic while crews widen it. The north roundabout is nearing completion, and caps have been formed to support the widened overpass.

The project is expected to wrap up in 2026.

Roundabout construction nears completion Shriners Blvd. at I-10 in Harrison County

A project is nearing completion to construct two teardrop-shaped roundabouts at the Shriners Blvd. (Exit 41) interchange at I-10. Nightly ramp closures to complete paving work will extend into 2025 in an effort to expedite construction.

The $2.3 million project is expected to wrap up in spring 2025.

Bridge preservation project begins on I-10 over the Pascagoula River in Jackson County

A $1.3 million bridge preservation project recently began on the I-10 bridge over the Pascagoula River in Jackson County. The scope of work includes joint repair and cleaning bridge caps to extend the life of the bridge. To perform this work, nightly lane closures will take place in the area through summer 2025.

This project is anticipated to wrap up in fall 2025.
