Mississippi Rest Areas | I-10 Exit Guide

The Mississippi Transportation Commission and the Mississippi Department of Transportation (MDOT) remain committed and focused on our mission to provide a safe and reliable transportation network for our communities, our state, and our nation. From the ports carrying grain that feeds the world to the highways carrying goods that keeps stores stocked, our employees are ensuring these resources are available to keep Mississippi and our nation moving while following CDC guidelines.

  • Our maintenance crews and operational staff remain on duty throughout the state to keep our roads and bridges safe and open.
  • Construction activities are continuing as normal. Workers who support the construction of infrastructure are considered essential by the Department of Homeland Security and have a special responsibility to maintain a normal work schedule. With our partners in the construction industry we will strive to keep this construction season on schedule.
  • Restroom facilities at the rest areas remain open for the traveling public as long as we are able to supply them with the necessities required for safe operation. The lobbies of the rest areas are currently closed.
  • Following the Governorā€™s Executive Orders, we have postponed all public meetings until further notice and are not allowing visitors into our offices. We are conducting meetings through teleconference and are available by phone and email. In conjunction with the Governorā€™s Executive Orders, MDOT personnel are teleworking when possible.

In addition to our regular duties, MDOT has a vital supporting role in the stateā€™s pandemic plan. We are providing support to the Department of Health, MEMA and other agencies with traffic control, law enforcement, and transporting supplies as necessary. In accordance with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) national emergency declaration, MDOT in coordination with the Governorā€™s office is providing regulatory relief for commercial motor vehicle operations providing direct assistance supporting emergency relief efforts.

We take the health and safety of the public and our employees seriously. We are encouraging our employees, contractors, and consultants to follow all CDC and State Department of Health guidance and take proper precautions to prevent the potential spread of COVID-19 as they continue to work. This includes social distancing by limiting the number of people at work in the office and at project sites and requiring adjustments to our maintenance crews.

We urge the public to take the proper precautions and if you must travel remember to be observant in work zones, donā€™t text and drive, and wear your seatbelts.
