The Florida Department of Transportation’s (FDOT) I-10 and State Road 121 Operational Improvements project (exit 335) reached a major milestone earlier this month when a new ramp from westbound I-10 to State Road 121 opened to motorists.
Since the new ramp opened August 9, traffic engineers have been monitoring the ramp and have observed enhanced safety and motorist mobility. The ramp includes additional space for motorists to queue, improved safety with modern design and enhanced signage and pavement markings.
While this milestone is a major step, crews remain onsite to complete the widening of State Road 121, signal improvements and the installation of a directionalized median at SR 121 and George Hodges Road.
This $8.82 million project was created to improve the interchange, which includes safety enhancements, improved signage and lighting, upgraded signals to accommodate additional capacity, median improvements and drainage improvements.
The project is expected to be completed in spring 2025, weather and unforeseen circumstances permitting.
